Conversion guide
How to convert JPG to PNG
1. Add verified files
Select up to 30 JPG or JPEG files. MIME type, file signature, 50 MB size and 40 MP dimensions are checked.
2. Choose JPG settings
PNG export is lossless, so no quality setting is needed. Optionally limit dimensions before conversion.
3. Download results
Download each JPG or package every successful conversion into a locally generated ZIP.
| Property | JPG | PNG |
|---|---|---|
| Transparency | Not supported | Supported, but conversion cannot create transparency |
| Compression | Lossy | Lossless |
| Typical photo size | Usually smaller | Often larger |
PNG avoids another lossy encoding step but cannot restore detail already removed by JPEG compression or invent transparency. Canvas output normally removes EXIF, GPS and camera metadata. Hard output limit: 8000 px per side.
JPG to PNG Converter FAQ
Are JPG images uploaded to a server?
No. Signature checks, decoding, conversion, previews and ZIP creation all happen locally.
Can I batch convert JPG and JPEG files?
Yes. Add up to 30 genuine JPEG images and download successful PNG results individually or as ZIP.
Will PNG restore JPEG quality or add transparency?
No. PNG prevents further lossy encoding, but it cannot restore discarded JPEG detail or infer transparent pixels.
Does JPG to PNG preserve metadata?
Usually not. Browser Canvas creates a new PNG and normally removes EXIF, GPS and camera metadata.
