Metadata to review before sharing

Location

GPS latitude and longitude can reveal a home, workplace, travel route, or exact capture location.

Time and identity

Capture dates, owner names, and serial numbers can connect images to people or devices.

Read-only report

This viewer identifies metadata but does not remove it. Browser Canvas tools generally create a new file without EXIF.

Image Metadata Viewer FAQ

Are images uploaded?

No. File reading, binary parsing, preview, filtering, and export all happen locally in the browser.

Can this viewer detect GPS coordinates?

Yes. Standard EXIF GPS coordinates in supported JPEG, PNG eXIf, and WebP EXIF data are highlighted as high risk.

Why are some metadata fields missing?

The file may not contain them, another app may have removed them, or they may use a proprietary maker-note format not interpreted by this dependency-free parser.

Does viewing metadata change or remove it?

No. Inspection is read-only. JSON and CSV exports contain only the generated report.
