Quantity plan, not a stability or rigging design

Base weight, ballast, crossbar load and safe height depend on the exact system, drape weight, floor and site conditions.

  • Use only manufacturer-approved upright, base, pin and crossbar combinations.
  • Confirm ballast and fire-retardancy requirements with the venue and supplier.
  • Do not place an unsupported system where a fall could strike people or equipment.

How the hardware list is calculated

Crossbar sections

Each run length is divided by the maximum crossbar span and rounded up. The resulting equal span must also meet the crossbar minimum.

Shared corner uprights

A connected straight, L or U layout is one chain of sections, so support count is total sections plus one when the system allows corner connections.

Drape fullness per section

Every section's span is multiplied by the fullness target, divided by flat panel width and rounded up. This prevents one section from being short of fabric.

How many uprights are needed for 20 feet of pipe and drape?

With two 10-foot sections in one straight connected run, the plan needs three uprights and three bases because the middle upright is shared.

How many drape panels do I need?

For each crossbar, multiply its span by the desired fullness and divide by the flat panel width, then round up. This calculator does that per section.

Why does the calculator reject a section below the crossbar minimum?

A telescoping crossbar only locks within its rated adjustment range. Change the run, use another crossbar range or confirm a compatible fixed support.

Does this calculate base weight or ballast?

No. Stability depends on manufacturer ratings, height, drape weight, people, airflow and site conditions. Obtain the correct base and ballast specification from the supplier.
