Password generator FAQ

Are generated passwords sent to a server?

No. Passwords and passphrases are generated locally with the browser Web Crypto API.

What password length should I use?

Use at least 16 random characters for most accounts, or a longer passphrase when easier typing matters.

What does password entropy mean?

Entropy estimates the random search space. It is useful only when the generator selects values randomly.

Why avoid ambiguous characters?

Characters such as O, 0, I, l, and 1 are easy to confuse when reading or typing a password.
