Template sheet
The on-screen sheet is scaled to fit. The print view uses physical inch dimensions; print at 100% or Actual Size.
Before printing
- Measure the transparent pocket with a ruler and edit both insert dimensions.
- Print one test sheet on plain paper at 100%; disable Fit to Page or Shrink.
- Cut one strip and test the fit before printing cardstock or a full batch.
How the sheet layout is calculated
The generator subtracts sheet margins, tests normal and rotated packing, chooses the orientation with the most complete inserts, and rounds the required sheet count up.

Binder spine template FAQ
What size should a binder spine insert be?
Measure the clear pocket's usable width and height. Use the nominal binder preset only as a starting point because products vary.
Why can a 1-inch binder need a different insert width?
The advertised size often describes ring capacity, while outer spine and clear pocket dimensions depend on the binder construction.
Should I use Fit to Page when printing?
No. Choose 100% or Actual Size and disable scaling, shrinking or Fit to Page.
Can I print binder spine inserts on cardstock?
Yes, if your printer supports it. Test the dimensions on plain paper first, then print one cardstock sheet before the full batch.
